Chile: Breaking News - Official UFO Study Group Reactivated

SANTIAGO DE CHILE, 30 December (Notimax) - Chile's State-controlled Direccion de Civil Aeronautica (DGAC) reactivated the CEFAA, Committee for the Study of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena, which will analyze UFOs from a scientific perspective.

CEFAA, created in 1997, kept a low profile in recent years due to a lack of funds and a lack of interest by officialdom. As of Wednesday, it shall have its own offices and a budget of $100,000 U.S. Dollars.

Pablo Ortega, DGAC's Secretary General, told journalist that there is currently more information, technology and international collaboration to study aerial phenomena that impact air safety and operations. He acknowledged, "there is a record of photographs and pilot reports that discuss matters worthy of study by the CEFAA. Research of the phenomenon in Chile shall be directed by Ricardo Bermudez, a retired officer of the Chilean Air Force (FACH), who became interested in analyzing the phenomenon from a scientific viewpoint.
