Argentina: Did a UFO fly over Buenos Aires during the massive blackout in the Greater Buenos Aires area?
The recording circulated on social media amidst the massive power outage that affected several neighborhoods in the City of Buenos Aires and towns in the Greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area
On Saturday night, a major blackout affected various parts of the Greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area (AMBA), leaving hundreds of thousands of users without electricity. In the darkness, some people claimed to have seen strange lights in the night sky.
The phenomenon quickly sparked curiosity on social media and gave rise to a particular theory: that the lights could have belonged to an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO).
The outage affected areas in the north and west of the City of Buenos Aires and different parts of Greater Buenos Aires. With the sky practically dark, the lights recorded by residents became especially striking and generated a buzz on social media.
The power outage affected a large area, from San Fernando to Palermo, with problems also in Recoleta, Núñez, Saavedra, San Martín, and Vicente López. The blackout wasn't limited to the City of Buenos Aires; it also affected parts of Greater Buenos Aires in municipalities such as Lomas de Zamora, Almirante Brown, and Esteban Echeverría.
During the hours the blackout lasted, some users claimed to have seen a bright white light moving across the sky. The recorded video, just 15 seconds long, shows three bright lights forming a V shape.
The object's unusual shape quickly prompted comments from users trying to find an explanation for what they were seeing.
UFOs during the Buenos Aires blackout:
Was it Artificial Intelligence?
The viral spread of the video also generated doubts among users about the authenticity of the images. While some found the formation of the lights striking, others suggested it could be manipulated content or generated using artificial intelligence tools.
In this context, some users turned to X's bots, which specialize in analyzing audiovisual content, to try to determine if the clip had been created with AI.
The responses shared on social media indicated that the material could potentially be generated using artificial intelligence, although this type of automated analysis does not, in itself, constitute definitive confirmation of the video's origin.
Other recordings also began circulating that supposedly corresponded to similar sightings that occurred during the same night. However, users and tools used on X pointed out that some of these videos predated the blackout and did not correspond to the Buenos Aires event.
Among the alternative explanations that circulated was the possibility that some images of lights in the sky corresponded to flocks of migratory birds, whose bodies can reflect urban lighting and produce striking shapes at night.
Meanwhile, power began to be gradually restored throughout the night, and by 11:00 PM, most affected customers had their power back
