An incredible abduction case from 1981
A highway department driver taken by a UFO
This shocking case of teleportation occurred in 1981, when Rubén Meneses—a driver for the Provincial Highway Department—was transported, truck and all, from the area near San Luis and Itatí to Berón de Astrada, 110 kilometers away.

One of the most spectacular abduction cases took place in Corrientes on December 15, 1981, on a rural dirt road between Itatí and San Luis del Palmar. Rubén Meneses—a 42-year-old native of General Paz and a driver for the Provincial Highway Department—had no inkling that he was about to become the protagonist of an incredible event with characteristics bordering on science fiction. It was approximately 3:30 PM—during the quiet afternoon hours with the sun beating down—when Meneses, who was driving a yellow Dodge dump truck (license plate W013976), saw a huge, intensely bright object rapidly approaching his vehicle; it positioned itself directly above the truck. At that moment, he felt everything begin to vibrate and shake. He had little time to think, and one can only imagine the terror he felt. He recounted the experience, explaining: "I felt a tingling sensation all over my body and couldn't move; I felt the truck rising and becoming completely transparent, as if made of glass. I could see the road below from up high; I was terrified but couldn't move or scream—I was paralyzed. I lost consciousness, and when I came to, I was on the outskirts of Berón de Astrada, about 110 km to the south of the province." A Highway Department Driver Taken by a UFO
"Terrified, as you might imagine, I headed to the police station and told them what had happened to me. Naturally, they didn't believe me; they looked at me as if I were some kind of oddity. But I insisted so strongly that they called the Highway Department, where they confirmed that I did indeed work there. Only then did they believe me, because I was in pretty bad shape." A patrol car was sent from General Paz with Meneses' wife, as he was in no condition to drive and was suffering from a state of shock that lasted about ten days.

In the aftermath of this shocking experience, he suffered from a severe headache that did not subside for ten days. He also experienced eye pain—his eyes were visibly bloodshot and sensitive to light (photophobia)—as well as cramps in various parts of his body.

Naturally, he was emotionally and mentally shattered; he even wanted to quit his job.

When Meneses arrived in General Paz, he was treated by Dr. Alberto Vidal, who had to administer an injection of Valium to calm him down. He was weeping like a frightened child, said the doctor, who admitted he had never seen anything like it before. "This young man suffered severe shock; what happened to him is genuine—he didn't fake the experience," the doctor explained. The first media outlet to interview him and investigate the case was *El Litoral*; later, many journalists arrived from Buenos Aires, including members of the team led by Fabio Zerpa, a prominent researcher at the time. They took him to Buenos Aires to appear on the highly acclaimed program *Más allá de la Cuarta Dimensión* (Beyond the Fourth Dimension), where he was examined by a group of six medical specialists who corroborated the account he had given us. "I was taken inside a craft," Meneses recounted, "which had mirrored, brightly lit walls, though the source of the light wasn't visible. They placed me on a gurney that seemed to have no legs. Standing before me were three short beings—about the size of a ten-year-old child—with gray skin like an elephant's. I felt as though they were asking me questions mentally, but I don't remember what they asked or what I answered. Then I blacked out, and when I regained consciousness, I was on the outskirts of Berón de Astrada. You already know the rest."

When Meneses was left there, it was around 4:30 PM; it was later confirmed that the truck's fuel tank was only slightly more than half empty. Yet, had he actually driven that entire distance, he would have consumed far more fuel than what remained in the tank. As always, the case sparked controversy—some believed, while others doubted, as is typical with events that defy rational explanation.

However, two facts support his account: at 3:00 AM the previous day, a man named Sixto Barrios saw a fair-sized, luminous object resting in a cassava field in the town of Derqui; it left traces on the ground—sand that had been scorched and crystallized by temperatures believed to exceed 1,600 degrees. Additionally, at 4:30 PM on the day of the incident, the wife and son of Dr. Vidal—the physician who treated Meneses—saw a very bright object in the sky while returning from Itatí. They mentioned this to the doctor independently, unaware of what had happened to Meneses, providing a highly valuable piece of testimony. It is one of many such cases worldwide, and this time, Corrientes was the setting.

Meneses is still alive today and stands by his story. It should be noted that yesterday, the local government recognized Meneses as a Distinguished Resident of the town of Caá Catí—an event that has left an indelible mark on his life to date.
