 The UFO Phenomenon in Mexico: The 1991 Wave in Hidalgo

During 1991-1993, CEFP received a great deal of information regarding intense UFO activity in the Mexican state of Hidalgo. When we visited the site of the events we were able to attest that the activity went back to 1991, constituting a veritable UFO flap. The details are as follows:

· 4.22.91: Ms. Adriana Velazquez Montes claimed to have witnesses along with her brothers Pedro and Miguel "a fireball" in Monte de las Cruces, near the site known as Tepeji del Río. According to the witness, they were able to observe two "midgets"--1.20 meters tall-- who signalled to them with a powerful red light.
· 5.12.91: Three elongated silvery vehicles appeared over Huejutla, Hidalgo.
· 5.15.91: A flashing oval object sighted over Real del Monte.· 5.22.91: A small UFO fires a beam of red light over Real del Monte with no apparent damage caused.
· 5.29.91: Hundreds of witnesses see a nocturnal "parade" of twelve shining, elongated objects over Pachuca, Hidalgo--very similar to the ones observed by the Velazquez brothers at Tepejí del Río.
· 6.2.91: The first sighting made over the Tula colossi. One of the alleged UFOs came within 15 meters of the colossi's heads.
· 6.4.91: First nocturnal sighting made by dozens of residents of Pachuca. Some 15 triangular lights were counted, resembling the ones seen frequently in Belgium during 1990 (according to the videos we have been able to examine).
· 6.8.91: An elongated object is seen by dozens of Pachuca residents. It emitted a reddish glow.
· 6.20.91: Three oval craft are seen at the same time that a solar halo
 takes place over Hidalgo (the phenomenon took place 11 days after the solar halo which occurred over Mexico City).
· 6.25.91: Six unidentified flying objects sighted over Huejutla, Hidalgo.
· 7.2.91: A flotilla of 10 to 15 triangular lights are seen over Jasso, Tepejí, Tula and other cities in Hidalgo.
· 7.10.91: A very fast oval vehicle appears in the skies over Tepejí del Río and is seen by scores of drivers from the Pachuca--Mexico City Expressway around 3:00 p.m.. A day later, a UFO similar to the one seen in Hidalgo turns up over Mexico City.
· 7.14.91: Sr. Antonio Pulido Obregón manages to capture on videotape 2 alleged UFOs moving at high speed from East to West in Jasso, Hidalgo.

It is also worth noting here that Arturo de la Mora Iguanzo, a civil engineer, informed us that during the first few days of June alleged agents for the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) visited Pachuca in order to inspect and gather information from among the population (according to de la Mora, an agent named Brown took 2 booklets filled with data provided by alleged witnessed to the sightings). We were unable to corroborate this fact with the pertinent authorities.
Eugenio Albarrán, an employee with the Cruz Azul cement plant, claimed to have found a yellow substance at an alleged UFO landing site. The substance disappeared after a few days, but not before a large number of workers were able to see it.
Truth? Fiction? Mass Hysteria? We do not know. Nonetheless, there is real evidence that something indeed happened in the skies over Hidalgo in mid-1991.
