Paraguay: Strange Object Over Luque.

VIDEO. Residents of the city of Luque witnessed a strange luminous object late at night. It was soon reported as a UFO. Startled, they described the event and displayed the recording.

People living in the vicinity of the Luque Stadium were impressed (Telefuturo)

According to their story, the sighting involved a large object with several lights whose colors changed constantly.

Raul Torres explained that his sister informed him of the object's manifestation. He went outside for a look and realized that it was an object moving slowly across the skies, with lights that changed colors.

"It wasn't your ordinary star. It moved and then remained still," added Selva Torres. "Its bright flashes, and its colors, impressed us all. Many of us here were watching."

Chile: Luminous Entity Spreads Panic Among Bus Passengers

Chile: Luminous Entity Spread Panic Among Bus Passengers

The sighting of a luminous being on the shore of the region of Tarapacá caused panic among passengers of an intercity bus from Iquique to Santiago de Chile.

The brush with the paranormal took place at 5 a.m. on March 1st 2010, when the passenger bus made a stop along Route A-1, linking from Iquique to Tocopila near the Vicente Mena Beach, between Punta Gruesa and Chucumata.

At that point, one of the female passengers began mumbling in her sleep: “They’re there, outside, there’re here,” creating expectation among her fellow bus passengers. She was wakened by one of her traveling companions. Once awake, the woman reacted as she looked outside the bus, seeing a fluorescent cylindrical structure in the sea. She began screaming and and causing alarm among the other passengers.

Collective panic gripped the passengers at this point, who after a few seconds “claimed having seen a top-shaped spacecraft emerging from the sea”, according to researcher Raul Rivera.

When everyone inside the bus calmed down and endeavored to photograph the luminous structures with their cellphones, the consternation and screams made an encore. “A being standing approximately 3 meters tall, thin and with impressive flashes of light, began walking toward the highway,” explained Rivera, stating that the case is being rigorously investigated in Santiago.

Once in Santiago, the experiencers went their separate ways, “making the investigation a difficult undertaking,” according to Enrique Silva, one of the two persons in charge of the process. He says that until now “only eight eyewitness accounts exist – a paltry sum, considering that an inter-city bus generally transports between 30 and 40 passengers.”

The identities of these eight witnesses is being kept in complete secrecy while future eyewitness accounts are sought, and the investigation can truly be finalized.

One of the open issues of this sighting is that neither the bus driver nor his assistant can be found. This has only served to stoke expectations, as some witnesses claim that the driver’s assistant took photos and videos of the encounter.

“There are key witnesses to the case. We cannot say who they are, nor the company to which the bus belongs. I can only say that something happened, as the eyewitness accounts are in agreement. I can say that a strange phenomenon occurred at that site,” Silva states explicitly.

The rigorous nature of the investigation is not only due to the sighting’s complexity or the difficulties involved in finding the final location of the passengers. The researcher in charge of the study adds that “there is an armed organization involved with the sighting, not as the source of the phenomenon, but as key witnesses. Therefore, the information involved, and the investigative process, must be handled with great care.” Silva explains that “we should have results this week or early next week.”

Peru: Woman Inseminated by the "Bufeo Colorado"?

Perú: Woman Inseminated by the “Bufeo Colorado”?

[Stories such are this are often found in the Latin American tabloid press – but in an age when we freely admit the possibility of insemination by “space aliens”, who can deny the likelihood, however slim, that “river elementals” are up to no good? – SC]

This time, the legend comes to us from Mazán.

A woman identified as Reyna Yumbato Huamán, 28, claimed having been made pregnant by a pink dolphin found in the Amazonian rivers and known as the “bufeo” (pronounced: boo-fay-oh) The woman traveled from the region of San Jose in the district of Mazán to the Loreto Regional Hospital, where she was admitted due to complications with the pregnancy. She said that she has three children that caused her no problems during gestation, unlike the current one, which developed with intense pain, accompanied by dreams in which she allegedly sees the “bufeo”.

The staff gynecologist, Beder Camacho, says that this case was a “threatened abortion” and that “bufeo legend” is clinically impossible. The woman, he says, received treatment and no longer has any problems.

It is said that when the Bufeo Colorado falls in love with a girl, it adopts the appearance of a very handsome man and appears at a party where he can find his beloved and woo her. Once the girl has been ensnared, he lavishes attention upon her, visits her every night and leaves before daybreak, giving her presents. Within a short period of time, the girl longs to be by the riverside all the time, to the extent of throwing herself into the water to be with the Bufeo Colorado forever.

Chile: Bumper Crop of UFO Images

Long-time researcher Liliana Núñez Orellana (formerly with AFLA)sent us a video clip from Chilean television displaying some of the truly startling images captured before, during and after the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in that country. Interviewed for this presentation were Rodrigo Fuenzalida and Alberto Urquiza. Mr. Fuenzalida was asked to provide an analysis of the situation, and he shared an interesting theory: that UFOs, regardless of their nature or origin, vacate their underground or underwater lairs before an earthquake much in the way that our own surface ships set out to sea before a hurricane.

UFO photography will be a bone of contention forever and a day, but we are pleased to share these vidcaps with INEXPLICATA's readers.

Book Review: Really Mysterious Pennsylvania by Stan Gordon

Really Mysterious Pennsylvania-UFOs, Bigfoot and Other Weird Encounters-Casebook One
By Stan Gordon
ISBN 978-0-9666108-2-6
(c) 2010

“Remember, you only an hour away from one of the most prominent researchers in Pennsylvania” – those were the words that a friend told me when I moved to Pittsburgh so many years ago. The name “Stan Gordon” was a constant in the UFO press of the 1970s and the research of his UFO/paranormal groups was covered everything from saucer sightings to some of the most spellbinding accounts of encounters with Bigfoot and other beings. All this, including the legendary “Kecksburg Crash” of 1965, made the great state of Pennsylvania a treasure-trove of forbidden lore.

Decades later, I would have of being among the first to set eyes on Really Mysterious Pennsylvania – the book that everyone had expected Stan to write for so long, unlocking the contents of his paranormal archives. And it does not disappoint!

In recent years, research into the “far out and far away” has taken a decidedly Western leaning, with researchers concentrated in the Southwest and California, hovering around Roswell. This new book is a reminder that we have mysteries – and then some – on this end of the lower 48.

In the 18th century, when William Penn became the owner of the kingdom-sized estate known as Pennsylvania, little did he realize that he had acquired a land of extraordinary paranormal activity, ranging from winged monsters in its forests, hairy bipeds in its lofty ridges, to unexplained lights in the sky. Really Mysterious Pennsylvania takes the reader through ten chapters devoted to UFO sightings of all descriptions – lights in the sky, cases involving ground traces and high-strangeness events, even truly dangerous encounters with the unknown. Act II of the book, so to speak, concerns the “Eastern Bigfoot” and its interaction with bewildered humans: of particular interest here is “Chapter 14 – Government Intervention” which describes the active role that the FBI has taken in some cases. The book’s final section is a delight to the seekers of high-strangeness cases, involving Thunderbirds, mysterious ice falls, and “The Mysterious Fowl Eater”

The best feature of Really Mysterious Pennsylvania is that it promises to be the first in a series of books on our state’s wonders and enigmas – and what better tour guide than Stan Gordon?

Argentina: Small Entity In Mendoza (1982)

Ms. Mariela de Tomaso of Argentina's Proyecto CATENT shares the following information with us this morning regarding a possible CE-3 that allegedly took place in Mendoza, Argentina during the early 1980s.

Source: Cuarta Dimension (magazine)
Date: Yearbook Edition - 1983

"On March 21, 1982 at 22:00 hours Mr. Luis De Baggis, former director of public municipal services, his wife Catalina Alagno, and an economics student witnessed the manifestation of a small entity, described as luminous, transparent and triangular [whose form] ended in a little head. As a result of this event, a broom in the household was singed by a fire that did not burn, and did not generate either heat or cold. This broom was burned when an effort was made to use it to touch the luminous figure, which had appeared on a tree near the couple's home."

While no further information is available on this event, leaving it firmly in the realm of the anecdotal, one is reminded of religious apparitions in Spain, Puerto Rico and Argentina itself that have materialized on trees. Perhaps some energy insufficiency (or being poked with a broom!) kept the entity from making a complete materialization.

Chile: Sixteen UFO Cases Reported on Earthquake Night
By Natalia Heusser

The earthquake was followed by a boom in UFO sightings, but sixteen cases occurred on the night of the tragedy alone (some of them accompanied by significant visual material) which have been subjected to study by UFO researchers.

Researcher Rodrigo Fuenzalida told Publimetro that the highest concentrations of reports appear to be Las Condes, Peñalolén, Providencia and Colina. "We have eyewitness testimony from a couple that refused to sleep in their apartment on the night of the earthquake, choosing instead to spend the early morning hours in the street. They were able to see an object that looked much like the moon, but immediately realized that the moon was on the other side. This event may have been seen by residents of other communes," said Fuenzalida.

Another major sighting took place on Isla Robinson Crusoe, part of the Juan Fernandez Archipelago, where people witnessed an object emerging from the sea shortly before the earthquake.

Regarding the case involving a humanoid -- reported by passengers on a bus in Iquique -- Fuenzalida notes that while startling, he is aware of other similar cases, but people "do not dare report them, fearing that they will not be believed.

"I've heard of the manifestations of these "luminous men", said the ufologist. "We are in an ideal period for sightings. I would ask everyone to be alert, but be mindful to avoid confusion, or a state of hysteria."

Thoughts on Giant UFO Occupants

South America’s Giant Ufonauts
By Scott Corrales

News of an alleged three-meter-tall non-human entity shambling toward a roadside in Chile (March 2010) brought back memories of the truly giant UFO occupants that were commonly reported in the 1950s and ‘60s, usually in Argentina, Brazil and Chile, although cases in Spain and even the USA were reported. As with everything involving UFOs, we must first assume good faith on the part of people who are beyond our reach: the witness, the magazine or newspaper in which the story first appeared, and so forth. These cases were made known to U.S. audiences by Jim and Coral Lorenzen’s books on UFOs in the Sixties and Seventies, contributed by a formidable network of correspondents and advisors in other countries. Some reports suggested that their tall stature proved beyond question their non-terrestrial origin, as even humans who will someday be born in a low-gravity environment may attain considerable height. Their purposes seemed centered on “gathering samples”, much like their other occupants reported at the time, or sometimes chasing terrified witnesses (potential “samples”? Who knows) who made narrow escapes.

An argument can be made in the recent Chilean sighting that energy released in tremendous earthquakes may cause unusual effects in the human mind, perhaps leading individuals to see what isn’t there, or misinterpret what they’re seeing. But it is nonetheless worth looking back at some of the cases that we have accumulated over the decades before relegating giant UFO-related beings to the company of the Jolly Green Giant.

An Argentinean Giant

In January 2002, Argentinean researcher Pablo Omastott brought the following case to the attention of Quique Mario, director of that country's Proyecto Condor UFO research group. The event, a CE-III involving a motorcyclist and a giant entity, had appeared in the January 15 issue of the Córdoba newspaper.

Enrique Moreno, 19, a clerical employee with the Ika-Renault corporation whose nocturnal job involves acting as a courier for business documents from one company office to another. Arriving at one of Ika-Renault's offices in the dark of the night to lay some paperwork in the middle of a table, he realized that the facility's lights flickered on and off inexplicably. Moreno paid no mind to the power fluctuation and hopped on his motorcycle, heading for his next destination.

Upon reaching a site where vehicles were parked before being sent out across the Andes to Chile, Moreno was amazed to see a giant green figure some 150 meters away. Thinking at first that it might be a welder carrying out his duties at that time of the night, the courier got on his motorcycle and drove toward the figure. When he came within thirty meters, his otherwise dependable bike backfired and hesitated, shuddering and becoming almost unmanageable. Moreno had to perform extraordinary efforts to remain in control of his two-wheeler, but he was much more distressed by the glowing figure than by his vehicle's unaccustomed reaction.

"I froze after seeing it," said Moreno. "It was like a robot standing more than two meters tall. Its angled head was hairless, it had shining, luminous eyes, and was dressed like a frogman, wearing a belt with a wide oval buckle around its waist."

The ungovernable motorcycle shot like an arrow out of control crossing an open gate and going straight across the road without its driver being able do a single thing about it.

"My arms still ache; it robbed me of my strength," he told the interviewer from Córdoba. "I felt as though I was in the middle of a magnetic field. It was cold that night, but the area surrounding me was very hot."

After the experience, Moreno stumbled through the factory's gates feeling a terrible buzzing in his head, as though it were about to explode. Factory personnel immediately drove him to a clinic where he was given sedatives. Although the newspaper considers that the young courier may have hallucinated the experience, it adds that there were other witnesses to the entity that very same evening: a nurse at the same medical facility Moreno had been driven to had administered a sedative to a woman who claimed having seen the same colossal figure levitate through the air and enter an unidentified flying object--an event which was confirmed, in turn, by residents of Villa de El Libertador, who had seen the alleged spacecraft that same evening.

As if these corroborating accounts were not enough, there is also the case involving trucker Luftolde Rodríguez, 52, who was slowly turning his tractor-trailer around and was terrified to find the green giant standing in front of his rig. The giant's presence appeared to drain not only the vehicle's power source, but the trucker's wristwatch and portable radio as well.

Given his proximity to the unknown figure, Rodríguez was better able to describe it. The giant, he said, was looking at him inquisitively; it had a flattened head, was completely bald and lacked eyebrows and eyelashes. Its ears were long, and it wore a glowing light blue outfit with a broad black belt and white boots. An interesting detail is that Rodríguez reports that the giant had a ball "similar to a billiard ball" in its left hand.

The article in Córdoba offers the following conclusion: "The giant's attitude was entirely harmless and could be said to be one of observation. The entity was completely made of energy, perhaps belonging to a form of life in which protoplasm no longer plays any part."

“Tallfellows” and Truck Drivers

Much has been written about people's love for their automobiles. Given the number of cars on our roads, the fact is unquestionable. However, not much has been put down on paper regarding the UFO phenomenon's similar affection for the humble car. Prior to the age of abductions, a fair share of UFO cases involved unsuspecting motorists.

"RV" never suspected he would be one of them.

As he drove at three o'clock in the morning along Spain's A-68 highway from the city of Logroño back to his home in the Basque country, the anonymous protagonist of our story was more interested in pulling into the nearest rest area rather than having a close encounter with the unknown. As luck would have it, he found one such rest stop further along the road, deserted but for the presence of large French tractor-trailer whose driver had obviously had the same idea.

"RV" parked his Citroen BX, turned off the ignition, and promptly shut his eyes, drifting off to sleep before he even knew it. Despite being a sound sleeper, "RV" was wakened by a slight buzzing sound and a bright light which he at first thought to come from another vehicle--perhaps another articulated trailer--pulling into the rest stop. The bright light gradually dimmed to extinction, and early morning darkness reigned over the area once more.

Even as he reflected on the sudden burst of light's origin, "RV" saw the driver of the French tractor-trailer exit the cab of his vehicle and approach the car with great urgency, pointing at the empty field adjacent to the rest area. "Did you see that?" asked the trucker in French.

"RV" cautiously got out of his car and was stunned. The source of the unexpected brightness turned out to be a vast dark structure, blacker than the surrounding night. The French trucker brimmed over with fear and nervous excitement, but willingly followed "RV"'s lead toward the dark structure.

When interviewed by Spanish ufologist Juan José Benítez in 1988, the year the event had occurred, "RV" could not explain what had possessed him to take the lead in a potentially foolhardy excursion, and he admitted to "not being a very curious person." Both men walked an estimated ten meters toward the ominous object before running into what can best be described as an "invisible wall". RV's eyeglasses pressed against his face as he hit the strange barrier, which he would describe to Benítez as having a gelatinous or plastic consistency. Even scarier was the green luminescence which emerged from nowhere to outline the looming dark structure.

The French trucker vented a few choice expletives in his language, which caused RV to take a second look at the structure with the greenish cast: twin colossi had seemingly emerged from the vehicle, advancing slowly toward the humans. Knees trembling with fear, RV guessed their height at three meters (9.8 feet), and their width seemed to match.

During the interview, RV was careful to state that he did not believe the colossi were robots--at least not mechanicals as we've come to understand them. They moved in unison, "as though they were reflections of one another." Their faces were featureless, their arms hung by their sides, and their massive legs appeared to be slightly articulated. Silent in the darkness, the pair of giants stared impassively at the two humans at a distance of five meters. Whatever courage or curiosity the truck driver and RV may have felt evaporated: both men broke into a frantic run, eventually hiding behind RV's car.

The entire event, which lasted about an hour, ended with a very slight buzzing sound coming from the dark structure, which began moving away at low altitude before disappearing. RV guessed that the structure could have conceivably been a hundred meters in diameter (roughly three hundred feet) and never once thought that the object and its silent "crew" could have been the product of any Earth technology. "Any country that has access to such artifacts will dominate the planet at its leisure," he told Benítez.

But the details surrounding the brush with the unknown were event stranger: during the entire hour, not a single car or truck had driven past the rest area in spite of the fact that the A-68 highway is a major artery; the French trucker jumped aboard his rig and "put the hammer down", zooming away from the rest area at top speed, not even bothering to exchange notes with RV regarding the bizarre occurrence both had shared. The battery of RV's Citroen BX became unable to hold a charge, despite the fact that the car was only a year old. Strange blister-like deformities appeared on the rear windshield and the front bumper, the parts of the Citroen which were made of plastic. Mechanics attributed them to proximity to a heat source. Nor did magnetic media fare much better: RV's credit cards refused to work at automatic teller machines.

Researcher Benítez was not disappointed when he visited the rest area in search of physical evidence. Only a short distance away from the blacktopped parking lot he found a large swath of grassy terrain that looked bleached and broken in comparison with the surroundings--desiccated without showing signs of having been singed or burned.

Giants, Guards and Gunfire

In the fateful early morning hours of that November day twenty six years ago, around 2:45 a.m., José María Trejo and Juan Carriozosa were standing guard outside the air base's fuel depot, each in their own guard shack, separated by a distance of two hundred feet. The night, which had otherwise been uneventful, was shattered by a loud, piercing, whistling sound that caused the soldiers to cover their ears for about five minutes. The high-pitched noise ended abruptly, causing the soldiers to emerge from their shacks. Given that they were insuring the safety of tens of thousands of gallons of jet fuel, the possibility of a terrorist attack crossed their minds.

Armed with submachine guns, the soldiers decided to comb the area beyond Trejo's guard shack, which seemed to be closer to the source of the sound. They had only advanced a few feet when the high-pitched whistling sound was heard again, loud enough "to drive us crazy," in Carrizosa's words. Things were only getting started.

The very moment the second whistle-blast ended, the sky became filled with an intense light, "brighter than a flare", which lasted some twenty seconds. Both soldiers were amazed at the unsuspected display, and were still exchanging questions about it when a third soldier joined them, asking if they'd seen the light. Deciding that these events were a bit too unsettling not to be reported, they summoned the duty corporal, who ordered the three soldiers and a guard dog--a wolf hybrid--to patrol the area and check for anything unusual.

A crackling sound arose unexpectedly from a eucalyptus tree. The soldiers unleashed their growling dog, which ran at top speed toward the darkened area. The three men held their submachine guns tightly, expecting to hear the guard dog barking at an intruder. "The wolf-dog came back to us," Trejo told researcher García, "but it seemed dazed, dizzy, as though someone or something had given it a beating or frightened it out of its wits."

The three soldiers began shouting challenges into the darkness, fingers on their triggers, expecting at any moment to find themselves in a heated gun-battle with intruders bent on detonating the fuel depot.

"I felt a strange sensation," reported Trejo. "Something was standing behind me. Out of the corner of my eye I could see a green light. Spinning around on a heel, I found myself faced with the most fantastic and inexplicable sight I could've envisioned: a nine-foot tall human figure made of green light."

Even stranger, remarked another of the witnesses, was that the figure appeared to be composed of small points of green light, giving it a small head, thick torso and extremely long arms. The luminous giant appeared to have neither legs nor feet.

Trejo tried to fire a hail of bullets at the figure, but found it impossible to pull his Z-62 submachine gun’s trigger. Indeed, a gradual stiffening was taking over his body, inducing a sensation of lassitude. He could see and hear perfectly, however, managing to shout: "Get down, they're killing us!" before hitting the ground face first.

Trejo's terrified brothers-in-arms were not stricken by the enigmatic paralysis and opened fire against the towering green figure, estimating a total of forty or fifty shots between them. The green giant became brighter, "like the flash of a picture camera" before fading like an image on a television screen.

Talavera de la Real was in turmoil. Alarms were sounded as some soldiers took up defensive positions and others headed for the fuel depot. The three sentries were hard pressed to explain what had occurred to an irate superior officer. But what saved them from an uncomfortable stay in the base's stockade was a cold physical fact: despite having ordered fifty men to comb the area in broad daylight, not a single cartridge case was found. A masonry wall behind the place where the green giant materialized should have been pockmarked with bullet impacts, but was otherwise intact.

But it was Trejo--the first one to see the green intruder--who would pay the price physically: only a few days after the incident, he was afflicted by sudden bouts of blindness to which neither the base's medics nor physicians at an Army hospital were ever able to explain beyond a vague description of "nervous shock".

Giants of Andalusia

Happening upon giant beings engaged in bizarre activities is bad enough; being pursued by them is a veritable nightmare.

Andrés Gómez Serrano, a retired Spanish police officer turned UFO researcher, has been aided by his years of being in uniform in getting to the bottom of a number of UFO and paranormal mysteries that have occurred with a certain degree of frequency on his "beat" -- the Spanish cities of Algeciras and Cádiz. The result of his work has been collected in the book OVNIS: 50 Años de Investigación en el Campo de Gibraltar (Antakara, 2000).

For reasons unknown, this section of the Iberian peninsula is rife with sightings involving giant entities associated with enigmatic craft, but none of them quite matches the hair-raising events of February 1980.

On the 6th of that month, following a spate of nocturnal light sightings in the vicinity of Botafuegos, three children decided to take it upon themselves to investigate the possible landing of one of the lights--described as a giant "Ferris wheel" -- along the road leading from Botafuegos to the town of El Cobre. The three youngsters, like characters out of a Spielberg movie, equipped themselves with a little more than flashlights and set off on their adventure. Upon crossing a stream which had to be forded in order to reach their goal, something unusual occurred: their flashlights, powered by fresh batteries, suddenly went out. When they decided to return to their starting point, the portable light sources regained their power. Startled, the children crossed the invisible barrier several times, noticing the same inexplicable power loss on each occasion. Unable to explain the oddity, the children returned home.

The nocturnal light show continued unabated. On the night of February 11th, as the three children witnessed "their light" make what appeared to be a zigzag landing on the slopes of the nearby hills, a car driven by Rafael Tobaja and his wife pulled up to them. Tobaja asked: "Did you just see the same thing my wife and I saw back in San Jose Artesano?" When the youngsters assented, Tobaja told them to hop in the back seat, and drove them to find the strange object.

At 9:45 p.m., Tobaja and his passengers reached the gates of a farm known as "La Rejanosa". Getting out of the car to check the surroundings, the group was startled by an enormous white light that slowly rose from behind a low hill, splitting in two. From each luminous half there emerged a gigantic, man-shaped entity, with elongated legs and arms, standing in excess of nine feet tall. The radiance of their bodies made it impossible to make out their faces.

The humans stared bemusedly at the luminous giants until they realized the entities were heading straight toward them.

Fear gripped Mrs. Tobaja, whose panicked screams added to the hair-scene. Clearly aware of the danger, and of his liability in having brought three unknown children into the perilous situation, Rafael Tobaja overcame his fear-induced paralysis and shouted: "Back in the car! Everybody get in the car!"

Had the unreal event been a scene from a movie screenplay, the engine in Tobaja's car would not have turned over, exacerbating panic to unspeakable heights. But the coupe started normally and the driver pulled away from the luminous giants at full speed, not stopping to look back until he had reached the neighborhood where his young passengers --badly shaken companions in adventure -- resided.

The following day, researcher Gómez visited "La Rejanosa" in the company of Manuel Aguilar, a local surveyor and engineer, to reconnoiter the premises. Both men found a profusion of triangular "boot marks" on the ground and an impression left by an object of considerable weight. Inquiries made of the military suggested that the triangular marks may have been left by mortars during live-fire exercises; however, no maneuvers had been conducted during that week in February or even earlier.

Making Sense of it All...

Giant UFO occupants have not formed part of recent case histories, and especially not during the abduction-haunted 1990's. They appear to be confined to certain parts of the world, as though assigned to them. Very few of them have taken place in the United States, and the only one worthy of mention is the August 1973 incident which occurred in Buffalo Mills, Pennsylvania, were residents saw a 9 foot tall giant with "a baleful expression" as it walked down the main street.

During the early days of ufology, speculation had it that the giant ufonauts were bred to perform a specific task, just as the small, large-headed ones seemed to be good at certain others. In the Botafuego case, the giants appeared insubstantial--projections designed to frighten away notoriously curious humans, perhaps? Had the entities been bent on enforcing a "no witnesses" policy, they could have surely caught up with the escaping vehicle in a few bounds. In the Talavera del Real case, we again find another insubstantial giant seemingly "probing the defenses" of a military facility.

The concept of these giants as security measures is highlighted in the case involving "RV" and the French trucker at the rest area. Were the monoliths involved in guarding a massive craft--probably a mothership--that made a provisional landing for unknown reasons?

This case could be dismissed as "sensationalistic Internet journalism" were it not for the fact that in the early days of UFO research, Latin America was known as the main source of reports of towering UFO entities - 2 and 3 meter tall beings, not always sanguine. There were numerous reports of UFO activity following the February 27th earthquake -- SC

Chile: Post-Earthquake UFO Terrified Bus Passengers

In the early hours of March 1, 2010, passengers aboard a bus driving through Iquique were witnesses to a terrifying situation.

A woman's screams wakened all of the passengers, who joined her in looking out the window.

"A vertical cylindrical object appeared on the coast, resembling a fluorescent bulb. At the same time, a top-shaped structure appeared out of the sea, surrounded by lights. Suddenly, they saw a long-armed, humanoid entity standing nearly three meters tall, issuing light and walking toward the highway. This caused panic," said Enrique Silva to Publimetro. Silva is a UFO expert and is researching this case along with retired Chilean Air Force General Ricardo Bermudez.

These were not the only witnesses to the event: other locals saw the same phenomenon. "We are still gathering background information and eyewitness accounts. Some students we interviewed told us that the driver and his assistant took photos of the event, which would represent very valuable material. This is a very interesting and well-documented case. I haven't had anything like it in Chile in at least 20 years," said Silva.

Journalist Juan Andrés Salfate said: "There are two theories to explain the apparitions of UFOs after a catastrophe. The first is that they live among us, underground, and engage in operations to lift off, thus becoming visible. The other is that they live in a state of vigilance, and follow our procedures and reactions."

We know that UFOs have shown an interest for all of mankind’s moving vehicles – planes, trains and automobiles among them – but this news item from Ecuador suggests that the intelligence behind the phenomenon has an interest in auto racing. Some details of this story are of particular interest: the mention of the mysterious Comodoro Rivadavia – Bahia Blanca area, and the “hoisting” of the car by an unknown source of light, which also occurred during the 1995 UFO Flap in Galicia, researched by Manuel Carballal.

Ecuador: UFOs at the 1978 Rally

Race car drivers Edmundo Carvajal and German-born Lothar Ranft were the only Ecuadoran team to participate in the Rally Sudamericano held in September 1978.

Carvajal and Ranft finished the race, which was an accomplishment in itself for an unserviced vehicle. But aside from participating in the race, both shared an experience involving an alleged UFO witnessed by a pair of Chilean drivers. The unusual situation took place in the penultimate lap of the Rally, organized by the Automovil Club de Argentina.

“We were leaving the Comodoro Rivadavia to Bahía Blanca leg,” explains the former tricolor driver, stating that the incident occurred during a normal stage of the competition. “A Citroen vehicle belonging to a Chilean businessman by the surname of Acevedo passed us before a curve, and this was followed by a very long straight segment, typical of the Pampas, some 80 to 100 kilometers long. I never saw him again after the curve. This drew our attention, because the vehicle wasn’t going that fast, to point that we couldn’t even see its lights.”

In the early morning hours, Carvajal and Ranft reached a filling station. They found Carlos Acevedo standing outside his car, co-pilot Miguel Angel Moya sitting inside, and many people surrounding them.

“When we got there, we asked them what had happened, because we noticed they were extremely nervous. He told us that after the long straight segment, they saw a very bright light come up behind them; they thought it was one of the Mercedes Benz units that were winning the rally. They were about to pull aside to allow them to pass, but the light became more intense and didn’t pass them by – it placed itself above them.”

“The light lifted our car,” Acevedo allegedly told Carvajal.

The light carried the car through the air for a few seconds, and at the end, they were deposited without a drop of gasoline in their tank near a filling station. Acevedo recovered from the fright, but his co-pilot was pale and in shock.

Skeptically, Carvajal noted that “it could have been a well-contrived ruse” but three things impressed him: “[Acevedo and Moya] arrived at the filling station nearly an hour and fifteen minutes before we did. This means an average speed of 4000 kilometers per hour. This was confirmed, because they took time to report the case to the local police. Their odometer showed that the vehicle had covered less than 70 kilometers. Add to that the co-pilot’s state of shock. One can make up stories, but it must be very hard to get into such a state on purpose.”

Once they reached Buenos Aires, the drivers of the Rally Sudamericano received their awards from Juan Manuel Fangio, the five-time World Formula One champion. There was a celebration later that evening. “We were in a group of friends talking to Acevedo. A lady approached and jokingly asked why they had made up the story about the UFO. They became annoyed with this person and decided to leave the party. Acevedo said that he was a serious businessman in his country and that discussing his experience could be harmful. But what they had experienced was indeed true.”

Argentina: The 1972 Tranqueras CE-3

Argentina: The 1972 Tranqueras Case
By Alicia Coscarella, Eduardo Irioni y Norma Pregliasco
Research conducted by CAEFA (Centro Argentino de Fenomenos Anómalos)

This case occurred on April 13, 1972.

Luis P. Lived in Buenos Aires and had to travel to Miramar, a beautiful beach community in Argentina, some 450 kilometers south of the capital city. He made the trip with his friend Rodolfo. It was a trip conducted on a regular basis, as he had an apartment at the resort community.

On Friday the 12th, Luis was anxious to get on the way, and after dinner, he stopped to pick up Rodolfo around midnight. The weather was calm and clear, with starry skies and very little wind. Their ultimate destination – Miramar – was a long drive away. They were driving a white Fiat 600, listening to good music, according to Luis, as the vehicle was equipped with a tape deck. They didn’t speak much on the journey, and the subjects were usually cars or motorcycles, since both experiencers were 17 and 18 years old respectively. They encountered very little traffic on Route 2 and stopped for fuel in Maipú before pushing ahead. Upon reaching Mar del Plata and the Bus Terminal, they stopped for breakfast around 5:00 a.m. and continued the journey between 5:20 and 5:30 a.m. approximately. These time references become necessary in the case’s subsequent analysis.

Underway once again, they followed the Mar del Plata coastal road. Luis recalls the noise of his tires against the pavement. On Route 11, past the Mar del Plata Lighthouse and in the Peralta Ramos Forest, they found the road was obstructed. It was still dark and they encountered a white sawhorse with a Detour
sign pointing right. When they turned, they saw it was a trail made with very large stones, but not one constructed by the highway authority. It was still dark and the experiencers found themselves in a sudden downpour, to the point that their windshield wipers couldn’t cope with the rain. They traveled some 30 or 40 meters and came to a closed gate; putting the car in reverse, they drove 80 meters only to find another gate; eventually they found another arrow and saw the landscape change consistency—soil and earth – as though it was the first time that someone had been through there.

At this point, Rodolfo became desperate. He shouted at Luis that he wanted to drive, which was odd, as he was a very poor driver. Luis agreed and they changed places. They retraced their steps back to the first detour sign. To their left they found the gate, but suddenly noticed a space in the middle of a field and drove through it. 10 or 20 meters later, they found themselves completely stopped on the highway, with Mar del Plata to their left and Miramar to their right.

It was no longer raining; they pulled over, swapped places again, and continued the journey toward Miramar. The time was now mid-morning. Upon reaching their destination, they parked and rang the concierge’s doorbell – a man named Tito – to let them in. Once in the apartment, both young men took a nap. They usually slept a few hours after a trip, but this time they felt exhausted. Much more than usual. They were awakened from their slumber by the sound of violent blows against the apartment door: the concierge and his family had come looking for them, as it turned out that the time was 10:00 a.m. – only it was Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.: Luis and his friend had slept approximately 24 hours, and the concierge’s concern was understandable.

After breakfast, they discussed the event but could not agree on the details, since Luis and Rodolfo believed that they had arrived at first light on Saturday while Tito assured them that they had in fact arrived at noon. When asked why their car was completely covered in mud, they told the concierge about the rainstorm that had engulfed their car. They were shocked to hear that it never rained at all – a fact corroborated by the arrival of Tito’s son from Mar del Plata, who had returned home the previous day.

Mystified, the young men tried to confirm the strange situation they were involved in. They borrowed Tito’s Peugeot 403 and drove to Mar del Plata, noting to their amazement that the roadway was normal, without any traces of water or signs of what they had experienced the night before.

Neither Luis nor Rodolfo ever discussed the matter again. In later years, Rodolfo moved to the United States, where he currently lives. Luis always found himself looking at the sky, after this experience.

Upon analyzing this event we find many unanswered questions. Luis wanted to go deeper into the matter and asked us to subject him to deep relaxation to release spontaneous recollections, and this indeed took place.

We know that memories always remain in the unconscious and are never forgotten. Luis claims that he felt cold as they drove by the gates, and this caused us to steer the investigation toward the source of the sensation that occurred when they reached the first gate. When he concentrated on it, he recalled that there was tall grass like wheat behind the gate; upon penetrating this grassland, he felt it to be soft and the cold very intense. He finally noticed something like a “giant top” suspended overhead, and two figures with human characteristics descended from it. The beings were average in height, wearing large protective helmets. Both figures were identical and their clothing was hard to describe. They stood some 15 meters from Luis and Rodolfo.

At no time did telepathic communication take place. Everything was done by gestures. Luis noticed that the stairway’s railing was very thin and porous to the touch, and that the steps were three: wide and flat, with aluminum colored anti-skid strips. The beings walked ahead and behind the two young men, introducing them into the “top” or what we could term a craft from this point onward. The interior of the craft contained a small chamber measuring some 3 meters, illuminated without any apparent source of light.

There was also a black “dentist’s chair” behind a column that led to a sort of “fireman’s pole” One part led upward and the chair was adhered to the pole. Luis was taken by the arm and gently seated on this surface. Rodolfo was taken elsewhere, to the left, which appeared to be the main part of the craft. Once seated, he was strapped with a belt that he described as similar to “those on a bumper car”

Everything felt very comfortable at all times. It felt “normal” to sit there at a ninety degree angle. He looked at the craft’s floor, describing it as resembling a “rabbit hutch” – all wires, side by side. He saw no windows, but noticed that the main door closed and many stainless steel handles were visible from within. Noticing the beings, he realized that their clothing resembled an image he found familiar: that of the Michelin Man, only the [segments of their suits] were thinner. The beings feet looked like those of a frog.

A “bubble” or “round fishbowl” was placed over Luis’s head. Everything inside turned to an orange fog, and total silence ensued. At that very moment, the door opened and Rodolfo appeared, led by the one of the beings, gesturing that he should leave. The being gestured to his counterpart to remove everything from Luis and that he should leave as well.

The outer door opened and the stairwell appeared. Luis slipped, feeling that the steps were wet. As far as he could tell, it was late in the morning. The craft vanished and all that was left was a deep silence. The experiencers boarded their car and could see the time was 10:20 a.m.

Luis explains that he felt great joy, perceiving the great purity of the beings, something that he couldn’t find in humans.

An uncomplicated, mannerly, kind an analytic gentleman, Luis graciously accepted to participate in the analysis of these events which he has kept to himself for many years. He never told anyone out of a fear of ridicule, but he knew that from that moment on, his life had changed in positive ways.

Now he knows what happened on April 13. Deep inside, he wants to see them again. His habit of looking at the sky ever since that day, has now acquired a lot more meaning.

Mexico: A Twist to the Hidalgo Mystery

INEXPLICATA Contributing Editor Ana Luisa Cid gives us a new development in the Mexican State of Hidalgo that is likely unrelated to the "Hidalgo Crash" of February 2010, but it no less compelling. Some readers may remember that the 1948 Paricutín Volcano first manifested itself as three holes in the ground, discovered by a peasant as he tilled the fields...

Hidalgo, Mexico: Air Being Expelled from Holes in the Ground

Locals reported the phenomenon to the authorities, who in turn advised journalist Fernando Pérez of the NQ News Broadcast. The air is cold and is expelled with great force.

Residents of the Achatempa District, attached to the community of Santa Ana Hueytlalpan, advised the Fire and Civil Protection Department (PC) that three holes -- from which cold air is expelled with considerable pressure -- were found on their arable land.

Elements of the brigade reported promptly to the scene of the events and cordoned it off under the supervision of the first deputy inspector, Jesus Garcia Avila, who explained that after confirming the report, the Servicio Geologico Mexicano (Mexican Geological Service, SGM) was advised to send personnel to determine the cause of
this air flow.

According to the answer received from the SGM, a team of specialists will reach the site today (Tuesday, 03.10.10) to make the corresponding investigation.

Alicia Rodriguez, deputy delegate of the community, led reporters from Bisemanario Ruta to the site where the three holes are located. She pointed out that while they are located on cultivated land, it is a trail used by those who live nearby. She explained that Mrs. Fortuna Romero became aware of the phenomenon on January 23rd, but just as she was getting ready to report it, the holes stopped producing air and it wasn't until yesterday that exhalations were reported.

Elderly residents of Achatempa recall that approximately 27 years ago, a water well was dug in one of the highest areas of the community in the hopes of supplying the surrounding region. However, the well only functioned for half a year and then began to expel air.

Alicia Rodriguez mentioned that the phenomenon caused such a sensation that over 70 people had come to the site from Tulancingo, Metepec and Agua Blanca. She advised that local residents shall be alert to the progress of the investigations and expert inquiries for the community's own peace of mind.

An interview with Fernando Pérez - Journalist and Producer of the NQ Broadcast

"We found out because some elements of Public Safety were kind enough to advise us of the discovery. Commander Raul Vega told me that in a community of Tulancingo known as Santa Ana Hueytlalpan, there were some holes in the ground that were releasing cold air. We went there and detected the phenomenon. In my opinion, this is not
related to the February phenomenon, involving the alleged crash of an object or meteorite on the border between Hidalgo and Puebla.

"I'm inclined toward the possibility that the air is entering through a cave and emerging through the holes, as there are some caves in the area. Of course, the explanation will be provided by experts, especially since the Mexican Geological Service has been advised.

"The air is cold and comes out with some force, as though propelled by a fan. Sometimes there is noise. I recorded it with my cellphone and played it on my newscast. The phenomenon is very intriguing. I'd never heard of such a thing."

Comment by Ana Luisa Cid: While this news item appears to be foreign to the main subject of this blog, I think its important to make it known. What is going on in Hidalgo? Is it true that there is no link to the explosion heard last month? Many thanks to Lic. Fernando Pérez Rodríguez for his attention and courtesy in allowing us to present this exclusive video on Mexican television.

Argentina: "Best Photo of the Decade"?

Contributing editor Guillermo Gimenez sends us this photograph -- taken by Alejandro Mikitiuk on December 12, 2:38 pm -- that is being touted as the best Argentinean UFO photo of the decade.

Mr. Mikitiuk was taking photos of a house that he was building on his property in the Sierras Bayas district of Olavarria, Province of Buenos Aires. Photo analysis performed by Patricio J. Barrancos yields a "positive" result:"there is a solid object in flight at low altitude and at a relative distance from the indirect witness."

Argentina: More Aerial Enigmas

Guillermo Gimenez and Luis Burgos have kindly shared with us some images reminiscent of the "Great Patagonian Mothership" reported over the Andes in December 2009. These particular photos were taken by Ricardo Cordeiro on January 24, 2010.

Salvador Freixedo - Guest Blogger

Salvador Freixedo's presence in the field of the paranormal stretches far beyond UFOs and into the broader realm of the paranormal. His theories on the origin of UFOs and the nature of the paranormal influenced a number of writers in the 1970s and 1980s, and his landmark work Defendámonos de los dioses (Beware of the Gods) stands among the most impressive works in the field. His book Visionaries, Mystics and Contactees appeared in the U.S. in 1992; other translated works are still pending publication.

Salvador Freixedo: “The Gods Exist”

A long time ago, I made the following distincton between the rational beings who are equal or superior to humans: humans, superhumans, gods, GOD.

Superhumans are basically humans like ourselves, but trained to carry out a great mission, which is why they are endowed with outstanding qualities that enable them to perform such a deed. Some of them are fully prepared since birth, and others acquire these powers in a given moment of their lives, when they are chosen by one of the gods, whom we will discuss shortly.

The founders of great relgions tend to be superhumans. Anyone who wishes to see a superman in our times and witness the incredible powers they are often endowed with can go to India, where in a small town called Puttaparthi, near Bangalore and Hyderabad (the state capital) he or she can try to get as close as possible to one Sathya Sai Baba. I say "as close as possible" because it is not unusual that upon reaching Prasanthi Nilayam, the temple-place in which he dwells, there should be thousands--if not hundreds of thousands--of his devotees who will bar any physical proximity to the superman.

Zoroaster, Buddha, Mohammed, Moses, Confucius, Lao Tse etc. belonged to this order of beings.

And before we leave the subject of the superhumans altogether (although we shall be going back to it repeatedly throughout the length of the book), we must make it perfectly clear that these exceptional human beings, no matter how great their powers, are but instruments that the gods make use of to carry out their wishes in human society and on our planet in general (which is not as entirely "ours" as we had imagined). These wishes, up to now, remain undeciphered by the human brain, and will probably utterly undecipherable to us until our intelligence takes a drastic evolutionary step forward.

Just as I have said, superhumans are fundamentally humans, either by their way of appearing in our world, their physical nature or their more or less normal way of dying, no different from that of other mortals. However, it is worthy of note that some of them, in the process of their manipulation by the gods, have deviated significantly from what is normal in most humans. This could be the case with Krishna, Virachocha, Quetzalcoatl and Christ hmself. They give the impression of having partaken of the nature of the gods in some way, like some sort of hybrid between man and god, or else gods prepared for a specific mission on this planet.

On the other hand, gods are not humans. Some of them have the capacity to manifest themselves as such, and have in fact done so on countless occasions, even to live intimately among us when it suits their engmatic purposes. As soon as their task is completed, however, or when they achieve their desire, they return to the plane of existence where they can function more naturally and conforming to their psychic and electromagnetic traits.

But the gods are not humans, and one of the few points in common we have with them is intelligence, although their knowledge and intelligence exceed our own by far. We will speak of their intelligence in greater detail later on.

Although we will discuss this matter in several parts of the book, it is nonetheless establish the following fact right now: there are many more differences among the gods than there are among men. These differences are of all kinds, and refer not only to their physical being in their natural state, but also in the way they manifest themselves; their greater or lesser ability to manipulate matter and enter our world; their level of mental, and therefore technical, evolution; and in a certain way, their degree of moral development, as some appear to take greater care about not interfering unduly in our world or not interfering at all. They are different in origin as well; some hailing from beyond our world, although I tend to believe that the ones who have meddled the most in human life and history are from our very own world, as we shall see later on. The reasons that prompt their manifestations among us, and the ends they seek upon doing so, vary as well.

These great differences among them are not the result--as among humans--of belonging to different races, natonalities, religions, cultures, social classes or languages. The differences among the gods is deeper, as humans, no matter how great their differences, are equal in their humanity. The gods do not belong to the same generic order of beings, and the differences among them could be perhaps as great as the differences between ourselves and an evolved mammal. It is also very possible that there is less difference between us and some of them than there is between their own ranks.

From the information we have received from them (and it is seldom entirely reliable), many of them ignore other gods that they have met during their forays into our level of existence, only realizing that they do not belong to the human world. If we are to believe what they have said, not only is there mutual mistrust among them, but on some occasions we have learned of open animosity between them and even pitched battles.

An example of this animosity appears in the rebellion that, accordng to christian theology, Lucifer and many of his followers condicted against Yahweh. Those who believe explicitly in the classic teachings of the Church, and who believe unswervingly that that is the only and entire explanation of the origins of Man on Earth and his relationship with God, should be aware that all the great religions describe similar conflicts among their gods, or between a greater deity and lesser ones.

Nonbelievers who, on the other hand, regard these biblical stories as mythological and not worthy of attention shoud be advised that myths and legends are nothing more than history distorted by the passing of millenia. They should also know that these battles among gods appear in all of humanity's oldest books (which is to say the "sacred histories" of all religions) and continue to re-enact themselves today before our very eyes, as we shall see later on.

Finally, we can say that these vast differences among the ranks of the gods translate into their widely divergent behavior upon our world and in their relatonship with us, whch vary greatly from one case to another and which, precisely on account of such variety, still have us wondering what it is they want.

While the physical being of the gods is different from our own, we can nonetheless say that the gods have some sort of body or physical presence. A small parenthesis becomes necessary at this point to explain that in the Cosmos, everything, even what we naively call "spiritual" is in a certain way "physical" (much in the same way that everything physical is in some way imbued with spirit). "Physis" is a Greek word meaning "nature", and in this sense we can state that everything natural, or belongng to the natural order, is "physical". The gods, then, do not belong to the "supernatural" order as it has been always been defined by theologians.

To understand the physical nature of gods (and many other nonhuman creatures) we have no choice but to seek the help of atomic and subatomic physics. The "bodies" of the gods are electromagnetic and made up by waves. Those who find this wording suspicious should also know that the human body is composed of waves and nothing more than waves, because that is ultimately what matter is all about (This is the great wonder and secret of the entire Universe. This physical fact, beyond all sentimentality and all dogmatic and mystical concepts, brings us close to the uninteligible Entity that created the Cosmos).

The "matter" in the "bodies" of the gods, while basically similar to our own, is structured in a much more subtle form, much in the same way that the matter that forms the air is subtler than that which constitutes a bar of steel, although both are ultimately the same.

The superior gods, unlike us, have the ability to manipulate and control their own matter, adopting more or less elusive shapes and making them more or less accessible to being perceived by our senses, whenever they so choose.

Another thing in which many of them coincide with us is their place in the Universe, for while their level of existence (or "vibrational level", as the occultists have termed it for years) does not coincide with our own, our planet is nevetheless their planet, at least to many of them.

It is a little naive to ask where they live exactly. Their location obeys physical laws different to the ones that we know, because the ideas of time and space that humans hold are extremely crude. Many of them can live--and do so, in fact--here with us, and nonetheless manage to go undetected by our senses. Our senses capture only a small portion of the surrounding reality. With a physical nature similar to that of a stone, the air remains invisible to our eyes. Many sounds and many more smells go unnoticed by our senses, yet they are the normal environment in which animal senses function. The television waves that flood our homes are visible to us only through the use of a device. We should not be surprised, then, at the invisibility of the gods. The paranormal world provides an abundant casuistry with which to reinforce this thesis.

Aside from all this, the indisputable field of photography
offers us cases in which a normally developed photo does not reveal the presence of objects that could only have been discovered when the negatives were "burnt" by the photographer's skilled hand. I have published proof of this in another book of mine.

We can conclude from what has been said earlier that the gods have no need of ground on which to stand or air to breathe and therefore have no need of being in any of the places of the world in which humans exist, with their matter and particualr physical chatacteristics.

On the other hand, I believe that there is no choice but to admit that some or perhaps many of them originate from other parts of the Universe, with out planet being little more than a stopover or temporal residence, which would explain in part the lack of continuity in many of their activities on our world, and more concretely, in the great variation that can be witnessed in their
interventions in human hstory.

By now, some reader must be wondering from where have we extracted the whimsical notion of the existence of such beings. Science says nothing at all about them, but then again, science says nothing about things like love and poetry, and in fact knows very little about either one. Even academic parapsychology itself, which is the branch of science that should be interested in the existence of these beings, says nothing about them and in fact rejects their existence whenever some bold parapsychologist makes a suggestion about their possible presence in some paranormal events.

This is, sadly, the state of affairs, produced by the mental paralysis of many so-called scientists. So much for science and psychology with all their prejudices and myopia. "Amicus Plato, sed magis amica veritas." The truth of the matter is that, no matter how unlikely and disquieting it all seems, such beings exist and we have written accounts of them in all the writings that humanity preserves since Man began to keep a written record of what he thought and saw. We shall go about the business of proving it in these pages.

If megascience says nothing officially about these beings (many high-ranking scientists have a lot to say, off the record and in private), religion, which is a very important aspect of human thought, says many things and has been doing so for centuries. When I say religion, I am referring to all religions, without the exclusion of christianity.

Most religions refer to these beings as "spirits" in general terms, although they may have an endless variety of names, dependng on the religions and depending on the different "spirits". We must bear in mind that all religions are aware of the great differences that exist among these "spirits".

As nomenclature goes, the Greeks and the Romans hit closest to the mark and simply called them "gods", although they realized that they were spirits that could assume corporeal form as it suited them, they also recognized an entire series of deities or lesser spirits that were beholden to these greater "gods".

No matter how much strongly we believe that christianity is far above all this polytheistic viewpoint, it accepts these sprits and in fact speaks of them constantly in the Bible and in all the teachings of the christian doctrine throughout the centuries. Christianity calls them "angels" or "demons", assigns them vast powers--some of them, in fact, are shown as being in rebellion against God in the sacred history--and signficant distinctions are made among them. We must bear in mind the gradations among the different classes of "angels": archangels, angels, thrones, dominions, powers, principalities, cherubim, seraphim...all these names are proof that the Church has a well-defined and concrete idea of them. What is even more curious is that in the Bible itself, Yahweh himself is called an "angel".

The abundant and most eclectic mythologies of all peoples, which were presented to us in days of yore as the result of the almost childlike imagination of primitive cultures, have gradually gained credence in out times. We see in them no less than the recollection of events that took place many thousands of years ago, deformed by the passing centuries. Anthropologists have studied them and know them well, but focus upon them from a biased perspective in order to explain their own theories. Students of the new cosmic theology examine them from a completely different and more inclusive point of view, without falling into the trap of either a priori theories concocted by anthropologists nor the hardened dogmas of any one of the religions that have imprisoned the minds of almost all the inhabitants of this planet.

Students of this new theology try to illuminate and corroborate these myths by comparing them with other facts we find in history and the myriad phenomena we encounter today.

That the study of these mythologies has yielded is that in the remote, and not so remote days of antiquity (and we shall soon see that in our own times), beings that claimed heavenly origin manifested themselves before the startled inhabitants of ths planet and claimed to be almighty "gods" or more boldly, the Creator-God of the Universe. Primitive Earthlings, with a rudimentary knowledge of nature, were on the one hand amazed at the beauty they witnessed and terrified on the other, not questioning for a moment the fact that they stood before the rulers of the Universe, surrendering their minds without hesitation and placng themselves at their disposal uncondtionally.

If this would have been the case with only one culture, we could ascribe it to a number of causes, but the truth of the matter is that the phenomenon of the manifestation of a "deity" as taken place in almost all the cultures of whom we have a written record. Collectively speaking, the phenomenon of divine manifestation and individually, the phenomenon of "apparition" or "illumination" are events that have repeated themselves in all latitudes, all cultures and all ages throughout the centuries.

It is only fitting to discuss if these beliefs common to all cultures are due to objective apparitions by these "celestial" beings or if they were simply a subjective creation due to the innate religiosity common to humans throughout the ages. Official science, with psychologists and psychiatrists at the forefront, will tell us that all these beliefs are unquestionably due to the latter, and that such objective apparitions never took place.

Contrary to their position we have religious fanatics (or simply ardent believers) who defend--with their lives, if necessary--that the objective reality of the divine manifestations and apparitions taught by their holy faith is unquestionable.

Who is in the right? As the reader knows very well, the truth is no one's patrimony and in this particular case it is exactly so. Science has the right to state that on countless occasions that which is portrayed as a "vision" is mere hallucination, the product of an unwell mind, and what is portrayed as a miracle --meaning a proof of the immediate or almost immediate presence of God--is no more than the conscious or unconscious use of an unknown natural law by the miracle-worker.

This sums up the portion of the truth contained by official science, which is no mean amount. The religious contingent also has its share of the truth. Their error lies in distorting the facts and blowing them out of proportion, turning relative, local and temporal phenomena into absolute or universal truths. On many occasions, the event of the vision or apparition has occured objectively, but it has not been exactly what the seers have thought it to be or more precisely, what they have been led to believe it was. This is where the deceitful activity of the gods comes into play. This deceitful activity not only takes place immediately and on the short term over the seers and their coreligionaries, but extends many years later, even unto scientists and human society in general, leading them to believe that such "visions" are purely subjective, "mythical" and utterly devoid of any reality.

As we can see, the gods play a double game: immediate witnesses are turned into raging fanatics (they have no choice after having seen and felt what they have seen and felt) and society in general--particularly the scientific community--who have not been immediate witnesses, experience a totally opposite effect, creating a special and uncanny mental resistance to accepting that such things can possibly be real, no matter how many times we see them repeated and documented to satiety in all the sacred and profane books of all cultures and all ages. Religions--omnipesent throughout human history--are the result of such "impossible" events.

Chile: 8.8 Degrees of Anguish

INEXPLICATA received word only minutes ago from Raúl Núñez of the IIEE, who had the following brief message to share:

Raul Núñez: "Nature Rebelled in Chile"

We cannot overlook making a remark regarding the vast tragedy that engulfs Chile.

It is indescribable. There are no words or adjectives to describe the experience of a powerful earthquake, to which we were victims and eyewitnesses.

The forces of nature unleashed, uncontrollable, makes one feel insignificant. A worthless pawn not worth reckoning with. The sensations produced by the monumental thundering under our feet cannot be explained in words. They must be felt.

It is only now that electricity has been restored to the area of Santiago in which our headquarters are located.

We would like to thank the numerous messages of support we have recieved from Spain, the U.S., Italy, and from our correspondents in Iquique, Angol, Concepcion, Puerto Montt and our friends at large. All of them concerned over our physical and mental well-being. Many thanks for your concern.

We are well, if frightened....but well. "Normalcy" is being restored little by little. Chile must rebuild itself, yet again.

The Earthquake Beyond Chile

Our colleague Christian Quintero of Planeta UFO sent us a report on the Chilean Earthquake, dealing with the impact of this seismic event beyond that country's borders:

"In Perú, Walter Flores, Chief of the Navy's Department of Oceanography, reported that the sea withdrew approximately 150 meters (300 feet approx.) from the coast of the Cerro Azul recreation area in Cañete (Peru), but assured the population that fluctuations resulting from the normalization of the water level would not result in large waves. Moreover, the Chief of the Port Authority for Southern Peru ordered the preventive closure of the beaches at Naplo and Pucusana after abnormal tides were detected.

"Going back to the earthquake, last night's earthquake in Chile had smaller aftershocks in vast areas of Argentina, mainly spreading through the provinces of Mendoza and San Juan (the ones nearest the epicenter)although it was also felt in Patagonia and the provinces of Cordoba and Buenos Aires. The Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, some 2600 kilometers from Santiago de Chile, reported having felt the seismic activity.

"This morning (Feb 28 '10) the were also tremors in the vicinity of Ica (Peru) and around noon in the Argentinean provinces of Salta, Jujuy and Tucuman. The earthquakes in Argentina measured 6.3 on the Richter scale, with an epicenter some 15 kilometers away from the city of Salta, produced by a geological fault originating in said province and which extends into Bolivia. Fortunately, there were no considerable material damages to report in Argentina. However, a tragic death occurred: a wall in La Merced (Salta) collapsed and killed a child.

"After 13:00 hours, the authorities of Salta's Cathedral were forced to open their doors beyond normal hours to allow the entry of hundreds of local residents to came to pray to la Virgen del Milagro (Our Lady of the Miracle), the city's traditional protector against earthquakes. At 17:35 hours, residents of Salta's surrounding valleys reported new seismic activity in Cerrillos, Campo Quijano and Rosario de Lerma, although not as intense as the event reported earlier that day."
