Brazil: Man Detained After Raping, Killing 400 Cows

Brazilian police arrested a man under suspicion of having raped some 400 cows, which he later killed after coitus.

The suspect, identified as Getulino Ferreira Paraizo, 53, was arrested after a cattleman from Aragoinania, in the heart of Brazil, caught him in the act of allegedly slaying three cows and a calf on his property.

In a statement to the police, Paraizo acknowledged that he was responsible for these crimes and explained that he was sexually abused at 13, which led him to have intimate relations with mares and horses, and later with bovines.

Police chief Alvaro Cassio dos Santos said that the suspect manifested having tried consorting with a prostitute during his adolesence, but found it "very frustrating".

The law enforcement officer, who has investigated the mysterious bovine deaths for a year, claims that they began to suspect that the sacrifices formed part of black magic rituals, which led them to refer to the perpetrator as the Chupa-Vacas.

A total of nearly 400 cows supposedly murdered by Paraizo have been discovered over a period of four years, and always in farms near Goiania, capital of the rural state of Goias, some 200 kilometers from Brasilia.

With 66 sightings recorded in 2008, Calamuchita seeks to wrest the Punillas’s sceptre as the capital of Ufology

Capilla del Monte’s UFO empire is under attack. The national capital of UFO sightings is not under siege from intergalactic spaceships, but rather, an uprising in the valley of Calamuchita, which is claiming pride of place in the UFO world.

This is a silent conflict. And like all conflicts, it conceals economic motives: the thousands of ufologists who lodge, eat and make purchases in the communities of both locations, attracted by the phenomenon.

While Calamuchita is featured on any self-respecting ufologist’s map – stemming from sightings of alien spacecraft for decades – there was a true boom last year. Martha Núñez, a resident of Santa Rosa de Calamuchita and known as “the UFO Huntress”, began photographing alleged flying saucers with her digital camera. These records were analyzed and systematized by researcher Luis Burgos, who published them on the Internet, unleashing the incipient wave of visitors (terrestrial ones) to the communities of the picturesque valley.

The pilgrimage does not yet compare to the one at Capilla del Monte, where some 100,000 people, many of them from abroad, ascend Mount Uritorco every year. It is worth remembering that until the UFO phenomenon exploded, only 400 climbers a year ascended the mythic peak.

A New UFO Paradise? Cristina Torres, Secretary of Tourism at Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, makes it clear that the arrival of the ufologists isn’t an “invasion”. “In recent months there were random remarks made be people who have arrived to research the subject, and who have gathered at eateries. But we cannot describe it as a tourist movement,” explains the bureaucrat from the other side (of the telephone)

“Capilla del Monte claims almost exclusive rights over (UFOs), but the sky belongs to no one and it must be shared in peace,” she remarks, unlike ufologist Martha Nuñez, who claims that “people from all over the world have come to Santa Rosa” following the trail of the flying saucers. In 2008, the organization of which she is a member – Fundación Argentina de Ovnilogía – registered 66 ET cases in Calamuchita.

“Everyone wants to set up their own concession stand. A lot of money changes hands, like what happens with Our Lady of Salta,” Nuñez points out, explaining the financial motivations of the incipient conflict.

Adding mystery to the phenomenon, Nuñez points out that only a few days ago, she and her followers found mutilated cows in the fields surrounding Calamuchita. “One of them was alive, in spite of having been mutilated.” She quickly explains: “We are unsure as to how this relates to extraterrestrials, and we don’t know because no one has a direct line to these characters. But these things happen.

Susi Hoffman of the UFO Museum in Villa General Belgrano, acknowledges the increasing presence of foreigners. “Before leaving, some of them let us know telepathically that they are aliens,” she says in a German accent, convinced that extraterrestrials are “spiritual evolutions”.

From the ends of the Valley of Punilla, Jorge Suarez, director of Centro de Informes OVNI, claims that reports of an alleged wave of spaceships near Santa Rosa de Calamuchita “generated a beneficial tourist rebound” while stressing a difference he deems essential: “The number of witnesses in Capilla is overwhelming, and there is evidence that something exists.”

Suarez likewise cautions that “the difference” between Calamuchita and north of Punilla resides in that the number of UFO cases “recorded” at Uritorco is 90 cases a month, some 1080 a year. “Many more than the number documented at Santa Rosa de Calamuchita.”

Suarez, the Secretary of Tourism for that municipality in 1986 – when the famous imprint on Cerro El Pajarillo was discovered – abandoned his job to devote himself to ufology. He acknowledges “commercial and tourist interests are the dark side of Capilla del Monte. There are unsavory people here who say unsavory things. I hope the same doesn’t happen over at Santa Rosa.”

“It is frivolous and clumsy to approach this (the number of alleged ET vessels) like a football match: it is not necessary to resort to quantity in order to know that there is exceptional activity throughout the world,” Suarez remarks, explaining that the “skeptical press” tends to latch on to the UFO phenomenon for sheer fun, which favors “the delusions and excessive self-importance” of the pseudo-researchers.

Argentina: Cattle Mutilations in the Patagones District

Is the Chupacabras on the loose? Questions arise over the discovery of dead cows and sheep. The discovery of mutilated animals in various fields caused alarm in the rural community, which is unable to explain the reason for these events. A cattleman describes the situation experienced.

The subject gives rise to conflicting opinions, from the most skeptical to the most credulous, each willing to tell their own version of the events: that it is a subject imposed by the government to forestall discussions of any other matter, that they are caused by pumas, and other theories that have been circulated by the media.

In this case, Carlos Dietz is a cattleman in the Patagones District and he told his story on the "Patagones y algo mas" program transmitted on Radio Nacional Viedma.

Dietz is a cattleman in a field located in the region of the 31st. He engages in agriculture and livestock and is one of those who are unable to explain the anomalies that took place on his property.

In an interview with journalist Daniel Etman, Carlos said that animals began appearing with their jaws completely devoured some 15 days ago. "There were a few cases and mine is one of them. It's very strange. You can't say anything or they'll laugh in your face," Dietz remarked on the capital area radio station.

"Strangest of all is that only the animal's jawbone was eaten away. Nothing more. It's the only thing. All that was left were the carretillas. The soft parts were fully intact, and the anus is also intact," Dietz explained, clarifying that he discusses the matter in the hopes that no sensational claims will be raised about it.

Regarding the discovery on his field, he said the animal involved weighed approximately 500 kilos. "Had there been a fight, or a threatening situation, the animal would've left marks on the ground, but this appears to have been a sudden death, gently falling to the ground and staying there. It never managed to let off a few kicks. Very surprising."

As for the animal's decomposition, he said carrion animals will reduce it to bone in little time. "Mice appear and dig holes. Vultures arrive and polish the carcass clean. In this case, it's been over ten days and the animal's intact. Only the upper part of the jaw is missing. No carrion animals have come near, not at all."

The area, he said, consists of small farms ranging from 500 to 800 hectares. These are flat fields without hills. "They are basically all ranches and you can see the animals from your house. You go out to survey the area and you can see the entire property. This cow (the one found without its jaw) is 400 meters from my home. I see it and what surprises me the most is that no mice or vultures have approached. Not one."

Questions arise daily, with each episode that occurs in the area fields. Up to now it is said that there have been three incidents in the Patagones District, one of them on a field on the way to the 7 de Marzo tourist village, better known as La Baliza.

Each event gives rise to questions and uncertainty. Questions that arise with every statement put forth. No one has a logical explanation of the event and absolutely all reject the story of the legendary Chupacabras in the area.
