The 1973 UFO Wave in the Dominican Republic

1973: In the: southern  locality of Matas  de Farfan , Dante Milciades Ramire z, Aquiles  Mar ino de Le on , and Ismael castillo Mateo observed three UFOs at 7:40 pm.at  the level  of a nearby hill.  According to the eyewitnesses, these UFO “kept crossing each other."

1973: On the north coast, in Puerto Plata, various witnesses affirm to having seen two luminous clouds moving towards the southeast.  On the Cabarete beach , at least t 12 persons observed ·the  same  phenomenon , while  in Rio San Juan another UFO  was reported  at  the same  time .

Sr.Luis Rodríguez, traveling at  8. 30pm through Dajabon, near the Haitian frontier, saw an unknown flying object at some 300 meters distance. Sr . Rodriguez afterwards said that the "object appeared to be metallic”, and radiated intermittent lights at regular intervals. He also described it as being “larger than the full Moon “.

1973: Four people, among them a doctor, two public employees, and an elderly lady, observed at 9. 00 pm the descent of an object having a solid and metallic external appearance. The witnesses, who wish to remain anonymous, indicated that they saw the object over a period lasting 8 to 10 minutes. According to them, the object showed “a fluctuation as it came close to ground level, becoming invisible “.

This  sighting  was made  near  the frontier town  of Loma de  Cabrera , whence  the eyewitnesses  went public with the information . When they afterwards returned to the sighting area, accompanied by others, no trace of the object was to be found of any kind.

While looking at some land in Villa del Mar, on the beach of Juan Dolio, which is on the south coast, four witnesses watched a UFO. A lawyer '(R .F. de V.) said he observed "an intense yellow light with a paler center”, at low altitude at a distance. The "light" was revolving , and a fixed red "point " was noticed  on the left  s ide  of the object  The size  of a full Moon ,  the UFO  arrived  to within some 300 meters from the  witnesses , and then turned 90° until it was lost  to view . The sighting lasted 2 minutes, during which time the UFO maintained complete silence.
